Poor car parking practices

The most problematic areas of living in strata-titled complexes relates to poor parking practices! When you get home to find another vehicle in "your" space and nowhere else to go...it can get nasty. What are the options? Who do you report to? What will they do? What about weekends?
A good set of bylaws is important. Let's work through the options. If the space identified as within a lot forming part of the certificate of tile, then any unauthorised parking could be considered trespassing just as if they had walked into your house without approval. It becomes more tricky if the area is common property as the strata company (body corporate) has a responsibility to manage common property.
Unauthorised parking is a breach of many bylaws and should be reported. Who to? To the strata manager (if appointed) or the Council of Owners if there is no strata manager. Refer to your complex’s information for more detailed information.
What they should do is adhere to the requirements of the Strata Titles Act 1985 regarding enforcement. And if problems occur outside of office hours for a strata manager, then follow up...follow up...follow up! 0 comments
